I have a ton of skincare & beauty tips on Instagram that aren't on this blog. I established this blog in 2014 and have written over 1200 posts. I've tried thousands of products over the decades making it easy to compare and cut through the marketing and hype.

SEE IT ON YOUR SKINTONE

You literally just have to swipe the sponge wherever you want to contour, and it does look quite deep once first swiped onto the skin. You then have to go in and blend the product in with either a brush like the Zoeva Face Shape Brush or a beauty sponge. The packaging is quite big, so I was really surprised that it only contains 12ml of product. The tube feels hollow and empty, and to use the product you have to twist the brown plastic section under the applicator, and the product then seeps through the sponge, to work as the best contour product. To use, start by applying the Lip Cheat lip liner in Iconic Nude, begin in the upper corner of your top lip and apply slightly over your natural lip line to create the illusion of a fuller, wider pout.2.

The packaging is pretty, the formula is creamy and satisfying to put on, and they make you look super glowy, which I can appreciate. But for $38 a pop and for them to 1) look almost entirely the same as products that are almost a quarter of the price or 2) not last the entire day, I can’t say that I’ll be repurchasing. The color is a shimmery, but not glittery, light rose gold. The color works well on my light medium skin tone. It shows up without being too pale nor frosty or overpowering. I love that it can go from intense to subtle with some easy layering.

The contouring effect is natural and can be built up to the color payoff you like. The formula is very blendable, as it almost blends itself, so you don’t have to make a big effort to make it look good. She has normal-to-dry skin with occasional dryness on cheeks and nose. She has a light plus skintone with subtle, warmer yellow undertones (view her foundation matches here).

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand Review, Photos, Swatches

After two months of loving my makeshift Madison Beer makeup routine, my phone buzzed with a text. You guessed it—Charlotte Tilbury herself (er, her text service, if you will) alerting me of the long-awaited beauty wand restock. If I had gotten the same text two months prior, I would have yeeted to the website with record-breaking speed. But as all classic grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side stories go, I bought both a $38 contour wand and the same-priced blush stick, mostly out of curiosity. Gabbay especially loves Milani's Conceal + Perfect Liquid Contour for its wallet-friendly price tag.

I, much prefer a cream contour, which is why I thought the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand would work well within my makeup routine. The first time you use it, you have to squeeze firmly to get the product to penetrate the foam, domed applicator. I have to say the packaging looks a lot more luxurious than it feels, and I have to be honest, it doesn’t feel like a nearly £30 product.

You had to fully remove this a few times during the day and reapply to keep it looking fresh. I find that pretty typical of most liquid matte lipstick products. I’ve stayed away from them for years just never liked the matte liquid finish. I had to try Charlotte Tilbury’s as it was Charlotte Tilbury.

I prefer this in my contouring products, but it may not be enough for others. However, I don’t think this is a real problem due to the blendable and buildable formula. The color payoff can be intensified without making it look patchy or muddy. I did expect to love this product as it sounded like the perfect contour option for those of us who don’t want to faff about with baking, or sculpting the face meticulously, but I’m rather underwhelmed, unfortunately. For £29 you could just buy a drugstore concealer five or six shades deeper than your skintone, and it’ll perform almost the same.

For a more subtle look, your fingers are your best tool; however, for more defined results, a brush or sponge is ideal. According to Mehta, the best way to buff out the contour is by starting with short strokes and always blending upward rather than downward. That way, she explains, "your face is not being dragged down, and you don't end up with muddy cheeks." Tried this at the store, it looks amazing but it's REALLY blinding. CT's come out with so many highlighting products (filmstar, hollywood filter, gold bar, etc) recently that I don't know which to commit to. I purchased this to see how it stacked up against CT’s other luminizing and highlighting products.

She also calls attention to its user-friendly sponge-tip applicator, which she says "can be used directly on cheekbones, jawline, and bridge of the nose to create a perfect contour each time." Select from four shades to get your glam on. The Giorgio Armani A-Contour Liquid is a staple in Gerstein's kit. I busted through the doors at Sephora and slid on over to the Charlotte Tilbury stand to get my hands on the contour and blush wands, only to find that they were completely out of stock. I was a bit salty and very much soggy from the rain, but I said aloud, “No matter, I’ll check online.” And that’s when I realized that the two products I thought I needed to achieve the Madison Beer glow were completely out of stock.

In this review, we’ll take a closer look at the Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand and see if it’s really worth the hype. It twists so it allows product to come through or prevent it (“on” and “off”), but I don’t think it twists off. You might have more luck ripping off the fluffy applicator and maybe just revealing plastic but I’m not sure (it doesn’t just come off). Christine Mielke is the editor-in-chief and has been reviewing products for over 14 years.

And after months and months of waiting, they were finally in my hands. I had absolutely nothing to do that day (not even a Zoom meeting to show off my face), but you already know—I did full glam solely so that I could try them out. It took me two tries to get the Revolution Eye Bright Concealer right because it dries pretty quickly. But on my second attempt of working swiftly to put three dots under each cheekbone and buff it in with a beauty blender, I was hooked.

Per the brand, it’s supposed to have an “extreme Hollywood luminous finish … that imparts high gloss, brightening and highlighting effects,” which I’d completely agree with. It’s a squeeze tube with a round medium sized sponge tip applicator. Off allows no product to pass through, On–you get the picture. You can squeeze too much through at once so go slow. It’s sheer enough to not be frosty, pigmented enough to be more than just a hint of sparkle.

Depending on your skin tone, opt for shade Fair/Medium or Medium/Dark. Either way, this creamy contour product will have you looking oh-so glowy. This magic wand bathes the contours in beauty-light for an instant mega-watt Hollywood highlight! The rose golden highlight hue flatters all skin tones, whilst the treated pearls blur imperfections, for the perfect, Hollywood gloss highlight.
